The first hour asks very little of you. Before the messages, before the plans, there is a small window of time that can belong to nothing but the morning.
Begin outside
Open the doors before you open your phone. Step onto the terrace. Feel the air and notice the sounds that are already there. There is no routine to complete and no right way to do it. A few minutes of simply arriving in the day can be enough.
Move gently
A short walk along the shore. A slow swim. A stretch in a patch of sunlight. Follow what feels comfortable, without counting steps or watching the clock. Leave the idea of achievement for another part of the day.
Give breakfast its own time
Pull up a chair, pour something warm and eat while the food is still fresh. Breakfast does not need to be elaborate to feel special. Often, the difference is simply giving yourself permission to enjoy it without doing something else.
