On the coast, time has a different texture. The tide arrives without an appointment. The light changes while you are looking the other way. Slowly, you find yourself doing the same.
Leave something unplanned
It is tempting to arrive with a list. Places to go, things to see, meals to book. There is pleasure in all of that. But leave one morning without a destination. Walk until the beach becomes unfamiliar. Sit where the shade is good. Order another pot of tea. You may remember that morning most clearly of all.
Notice the small things
A quieter day makes space for details: the cool of the floor under bare feet, the scent of salt on a towel, the way a breeze moves through an open room. These are ordinary things. Given a little attention, they become the things that make a place your own.
Take the feeling home
You do not need an ocean to make room for a slower moment. A phone left in another room. Breakfast eaten sitting down. An evening walk with no particular purpose. The best part of a stay can be the small change you bring back with you.
